This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop and modify design drawings for high-voltage transmission and distribution substations.
• Create site plans.
• Generate foundation plans and detailed specifications.
• Design structural steel plans along with fabrication details.
• Conduct peer reviews of drawings produced by other designers.
• Manage archived, up-to-date, and working drawing revisions.
• Update drawings to reflect field as-built conditions.
• Educate and guide junior designers and new staff on civil/structural design and company protocols.
• Engage in the development and assessment of company standards and design tools.
• Offer project and office support as needed.
• Occasionally travel to field sites or work at client locations as required.
• Preferred: Associates Degree in Civil Engineering/Technology, although not mandatory.
• Over 5 years of experience in designing transmission-level substations (13.8kV–500 kV).
• Proficient in creating site plans, foundation plans and details, as well as structural steel plans and fabrication details.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Capable of collaborating effectively within a team environment.
• Adept at solving problems in time-sensitive situations.
• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD (2015 or later) is required.
• Preferred: Advanced/intermediate skills in MicroStation.
• Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word.
• Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel.
• Intermediate skills in Microsoft Outlook.
• Ability to lift or move equipment weighing up to 15 lbs.
• Typically requires 10% travel.
