Project Commissioning Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.

📋 Description

• Plan, coordinate, and oversee commissioning activities for hybrid renewable energy projects, which include thermal, solar photovoltaic (PV), battery energy storage systems (BESS), and wind turbine generators.

• Create commissioning procedures, Inspection and Test Plan schedules, and checklists that align with project specifications and industry standards.

• Manage commissioning teams, subcontractors, and third-party vendors to ensure adherence to quality and safety protocols.

• Supervise system testing, performance validation, and troubleshooting during the commissioning phases.

• Collaborate with engineering, construction, and operations teams to address technical challenges and enhance system performance.

• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards throughout the commissioning processes.

• Prepare and maintain comprehensive commissioning documentation, reports, and handover packages.

• Facilitate client inspections, acceptance testing, and the final project handover.

• Promote continuous improvement in commissioning practices and methodologies.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or a related technical field.

• High voltage switching qualifications or equivalent (preferred).

• OEM training/certifications for solar inverters, wind turbines, or BESS systems (an advantage).

• Extensive knowledge of pertinent codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., IEC, AS/NZS, grid codes).

• 5 to 10+ years of commissioning experience in power generation and/or heavy industrial projects.

• Proven track record in commissioning thermal, solar PV, wind turbines, and BESS installations.

• Familiarity with hybrid power plant controls, Energy Management Systems (EMS), SCADA systems, and grid integration.

• Strong grasp of HV/LV electrical systems, protection schemes, grid codes, control systems, and utility interfacing.

• Demonstrated experience/understanding of hazardous areas associated with hydrocarbons.

• Comprehensive knowledge of Tier 1 commissioning processes or similar.

• Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary site teams in complex commissioning settings.

• Leadership and team management skills in high-risk technical environments.
