This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.
• Establishing strategy and direction through your own analysis of thematic areas and/or geographical focus.
• Seeking and exploring innovative ideas or approaches, while continuously refining and updating this strategy as circumstances change.
• Awarding grants that range from immediate capacity support to extensive multi-year investments aimed at transforming the health sector in select countries.
• Cultivating in-depth country-level insights regarding political economy and health systems.
• Sustaining relationships with technical assistance providers, government officials, and funders, including organizations like the Gates Foundation, the Susan T. Buffett Foundation, and CIFF.
• Overseeing our current portfolio of in-country grants to adapt to shifts in the health aid system, including active technical support units in six countries.
• Leading the recruitment process for an additional hire, based on the anticipated growth of our grantmaking activities.
• Over 8 years of experience in the global health sector, ideally encompassing both health systems grantmaking and technical assistance.
• Proven ability to build credibility with high-level government officials.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to dedicate substantial time to focus countries, particularly in Africa.
• Excellent analytical and quantitative abilities.
• A high tolerance for ambiguity, complemented by a hits-based approach.
• Strong sense of ownership.
• Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal.
