This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Overseeing the creation of Property & Casualty (P&C) underwriting guidelines and Letters of Authority for MGUs/MGAs/Program Administrators, along with standards and procedures for exceptions outside the established underwriting guidelines.
• Proactively managing all Key Performance Indicators, including pricing objectives, profit enhancement, and combined loss ratio outcomes.
• Collaborating with essential support units, such as Finance, Actuarial, Claims, Legal, Compliance, Operations, and IT to assess issues, identify solutions, and drive execution on challenges encountered by the company, partners, and customers.
• For P&C MGUs/MGAs: assisting in the development of program and ceded business documents in partnership with Underwriting, CUO, and the legal department.
• Creating new P&C products involving research and development, underwriting guidelines, SERFF support for internal or external filing resources, pricing, and state submissions and approvals.
• Conducting audits and program reviews, examining documents such as policies, application state endorsements, OFAC, plan documents, and other relevant documents necessary for the writing of each program's business.
• Identifying and managing portfolio-level risks, issues, and dependencies.
• Collaborating with Legal/Compliance on legislative and regulatory matters affecting the P&C programs, including data collection with programs, states, and other entities for accurate reporting of taxes, assessments, and other compliance aspects of direct insurance.
• Assisting corporate accounting by collecting data from individual programs, including premiums, states, limits, etc.
• Building and maintaining relationships with MGUs/MGAs/Program Administrators.
• Diligently monitoring market trends and program-specific patterns to ensure program performance aligns with company expectations.
• Serving as the primary contact for each direct insurance program regarding all administrative, underwriting, and service inquiries.
• Establishing and nurturing relationships with support units, brokers, and reinsurers to further the company's goals and objectives.
• Compiling monthly and quarterly management reports, along with other ad hoc reports as needed.
• Aiding P&C new business initiatives and conducting appropriate triage of new business opportunities.
• Supporting the training and development of staff.
• Offering expertise on coverage issues in collaboration with Claims.
• Creating and leading marketing presentations for new and existing agents/brokers.
• Guiding and ensuring the successful execution of complex projects.
• Diagnosing and formulating recommendations to address unique business and customer challenges.
• Over 10 years of experience in Property and Casualty Insurance in an underwriting and/or product capacity.
• Strong analytical abilities with the capability to develop analytical/dynamic underwriting models and efficiently identify necessary tools for task execution, leading to effective product solutions.
• Ability to provide leadership that drives underwriting process improvements through technology, outsourcing, or internal innovations.
• Demonstrated intellectual curiosity and a genuine desire to assist others in problem-solving.
• Confidence in your skill set, willingness to learn more, and the capacity to make a meaningful impact.
• Highly entrepreneurial mindset, with experience in developing new and emerging products for swift entry into new markets, thriving in a fast-paced and dynamic culture.
