This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Establish and uphold data governance and stewardship frameworks, policies, standards, procedures, and controls.
• Define responsibilities regarding data ownership, accountability, stewardship, and quality.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of governance requirements, decision rights, standards, and operational practices.
• Collaborate with data owners, stewards, and cross-functional stakeholders to implement standards and address data issues.
• Create guidance and educational resources on data governance and stewardship responsibilities.
• Define and uphold data quality standards, rules, processes, monitoring, and controls.
• Investigate root causes, prioritize remediation efforts, and enhance data quality.
• Maintain data lineage, data catalogs, business glossaries, metadata, and associated documentation.
• Monitor compliance with governance and quality standards and communicate risks and remediation needs.
• Support data privacy, security, risk management, regulatory requirements, and client-specific data commitments.
• Oversee how client and company data is accessed, utilized, stored, shared, retained, and disposed of.
• Collaborate with analytics, technology, and AI teams on governance, privacy, security, quality, and documentation requirements.
• Develop metrics and reporting to track governance adoption, data quality, and risk.
• Act as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor on data governance and stewardship.
• Promote data literacy through documentation, training, and stakeholder engagement.
• Facilitate cooperation among data owners, stewards, and technical teams.
• Continuously enhance governance practices as regulations, client requirements, business needs, and technology evolve.
• Foster a respectful, collaborative, and solution-oriented workplace culture.
• Travel approximately 5% domestically for company meetings, with global travel every 1–2 years.
• Bachelor’s degree in Data Management, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
• 5–8 years of experience in data governance, data stewardship, data management, data quality, or a related field.
• Experience in the insurance industry is preferred.
• Background in supporting data governance for analytics, automation, machine learning, or AI applications.
• Familiarity with data governance frameworks, best practices in data management, or industry-related standards.
• Experience in implementing or enhancing data governance programs in a dynamic organization.
• Hands-on experience in developing, implementing, or maintaining data governance frameworks, policies, standards, and controls.
• Experience in establishing practices related to data quality, classification, access, retention, privacy, or lifecycle management.
• Working knowledge of data privacy, security, regulatory, and compliance requirements in a regulated or data-intensive environment.
• Experience with data catalogs, metadata management, data lineage, data quality tools, or related data management technologies.
• Strong data fluency, including understanding data structures, relationships, sources, and downstream usage.
• SQL experience is preferred.
• Ability to translate complex governance, privacy, security, and data management requirements into clear policies and practical guidance.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and disciplined documentation, processes, and follow-through.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and influence stakeholders across functions without direct authority.
• Proficiency with technology and the ability to learn, utilize, and navigate various external and internal systems.
• Must reside full-time in the United States.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
