This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• The Program Manager offers operational, administrative, research, and programmatic assistance to the Animal Law Education & Scholarship Program (ALESP) as well as the Transparency & Regulatory Affairs Program (TRAP).
• This role involves driving programs, events, grants, and educational initiatives; managing data, records, and program resources; conducting research and analysis; preparing reports and communications; and supporting cross-functional projects that further organizational objectives.
• Additionally, the position contributes to transparency and regulatory oversight by spearheading information-gathering initiatives, maintaining and analyzing intricate datasets and records, and developing resources that enhance the organization’s advocacy, legal, policy, communications, and educational efforts.
• A Bachelor’s degree in pre-law, psychology, sociology, communication, political science, animal studies, animal science, or other relevant fields.
• Alternatively, a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience may be deemed equivalent to a degree.
• Over 5 years of experience in a nonprofit, higher education, legal, advocacy, or research environment.
• Experience in administering grants, scholarships, fellowships, educational programs, or other competitive application procedures.
• Proven experience in coordinating events, conferences, trainings, webinars, or programs directed at students.
• Background in conducting research, literature reviews, or public records investigations.
• Experience in reviewing, organizing, and analyzing extensive datasets or document collections.
• Familiarity with Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests, public records laws, regulatory agencies, or government transparency initiatives.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, prioritize conflicting deadlines, and work independently.
• Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
• Prior experience in higher education settings and knowledge of curriculum development and management is preferred.
• Knowledge of animal protection issues is an advantage.
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence, enabling the building of positive relationships with students, colleagues, faculty, attorneys, donors, and external partners.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively across teams, navigate differing viewpoints, and cultivate productive working relationships.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to engage professionally with students, faculty, attorneys, donors, and external partners.
• Experience in developing reports, dashboards, educational resources, or program evaluation materials.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, and experience with databases, spreadsheets, and project management tools.
• A solid understanding of and a demonstrated commitment to the mission of the Animal Legal Defense Fund.
• Willingness to travel for occasional staff meetings and retreats, estimated at 1-2 trips per year.
