Program Director, Superhot Rock Geothermal

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Formulate and implement CATF's long-term strategy for the Geothermal Program.

• Convert strategic priorities into quantifiable results through effective planning, project management, resource distribution, and execution.

• Lead, mentor, and cultivate a diverse team of staff and consultants.

• Enhance organizational capabilities and promote career advancement throughout the program.

• Foster and establish trusted partnerships among industry, government, academia, philanthropy, and civil society.

• Promote policies, financing strategies, market conditions, and technical collaborations to facilitate the commercialization of next-generation geothermal technologies.

• Tackle commercialization challenges, including permitting, workforce development, supply chains, standards, and testing infrastructure.

• Represent CATF through executive briefings, conference presentations, media interactions, publications, congressional testimonies, and both domestic and international forums.

• Increase the visibility and influence of the program's technical experts.

• Develop relationships with governments, investors, multilateral institutions, research organizations, and international collaborators.

• Collaborate with Development, Finance, and Operations teams to obtain philanthropic funding.

• Oversee multimillion-dollar budgets and guarantee effective operational execution.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Master's degree or higher in business, energy systems, energy policy, engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Over 10 years of leadership experience in business development, policy formulation, technology advancement, energy innovation, or related areas.

• Proven success in spearheading complex initiatives in industry, government, nonprofit, academic, research, or other mission-driven settings.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in people management.

• Experience in leading multidisciplinary teams and achieving outcomes through influence and formal authority.

• Proven track record of establishing partnerships across industry, government, academia, philanthropy, and civil society.

• Outstanding written, verbal, public speaking, and stakeholder engagement abilities.

• Capable of simplifying complex technical subjects for non-technical audiences.

• Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to work independently, demonstrate sound judgment, and thrive in dynamic, uncertain environments.

• Proficient in collaborating effectively in a virtual work setting.

• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 30% of the time.

• Preferred: experience in developing, drilling, constructing, operating, or commercializing geothermal or closely related subsurface energy projects.

• Preferred: understanding of technical, commercial, and operational challenges in geothermal or similar subsurface energy projects.

• Preferred: experience in securing philanthropic funding and managing multimillion-dollar program budgets.

• Preferred: familiarity with international energy policy, clean energy markets, or multilateral climate and energy initiatives.

• Preferred: experience in advancing complex technology commercialization across regions and stakeholder groups.
