Professional Home Inspector – Public Institutions

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Conduct residential home inspections across Army installations in the United States, Asia, and Europe.

• Utilize proprietary reporting software on a tablet or mobile device to perform residential home inspections.

• Carry out interior and exterior visual assessments according to project-specific inspection criteria.

• Identify property deficiencies, including site conditions, building materials, structural components, and health and safety issues.

• Evaluate building systems and equipment concerning their age, condition, and functionality.

• Capture and document photographic evidence of equipment tags, building features, and inspection findings.

• Engage professionally with on-site managers, tenants, and project stakeholders.

• Travel extensively to Army installations, including multi-week assignments by car and occasionally by air.

• Assist public sector organizations in optimizing and managing real property assets through property assessments and reporting.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be an InterNACHI Certified Home Inspector or a Licensed Home Inspector in one or more of the following states: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, or Washington.

• Possess a working knowledge of current building codes and their application to residential home inspections.

• United States citizenship is required.

• Capable of passing Army military base security vetting, background checks, and drug screenings.

• Hold a valid Real ID driver’s license.

• Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Demonstrated ability to effectively use a tablet or iPad for inspection reporting in the field.

• Have a minimum of two years of experience in conducting residential home inspections.

• Experience in performing inspections within government, military, or institutional settings.

• Familiarity with identifying structural, safety, and environmental deficiencies in residential properties.

• Strong organizational skills to manage inspections independently while supporting a larger project team.

• Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and travel schedules.

• Proven experience in documenting findings through detailed written reports and photography.

• Comfortable working in a physically active environment, including climbing ladders, entering confined spaces, and standing for extended durations.

• Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
