Production Designer, Set Design Expert

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil, +5 more countries.

📋 Description

• Examine set designs, room layouts, production environments, and visual concepts in relation to creative briefs, scripts, and project specifications.

• Analyze composition, scale, proportions, spatial arrangement, color schemes, textures, materials, and overall visual consistency.

• Evaluate sightlines, camera angles, framing, lighting considerations, actor movements, and the functional use of space.

• Identify potential execution challenges, such as impractical layouts, inappropriate materials, inaccurate period details, continuity issues, or construction limitations.

• Assess whether proposed designs align with the story, setting, atmosphere, characters, and intended visual direction.

• Consider the feasibility of design concepts within the constraints of budget, production timeline, and technical limitations.

• Document observations and justify assessments, outlining strengths, weaknesses, risks, and areas for improvement.

• Compare various design alternatives and determine which solution best fulfills both creative and practical requirements.

⛳️ Requirements

• Professional experience in one or more of the following roles: Production Designer, Set Designer, Art Director, Set Decorator, Assistant Art Director, Theatre Designer, Scenic Designer, or other related positions in production or spatial design.

• Proven track record in real-world productions, with experience in creative briefs, scripts, budgeting, set construction, installation, filming, or production execution.

• Strong grasp of spatial design, visual storytelling, composition, materials, textures, color theory, and production environments.

• Practical understanding of how sets and designed spaces operate for performers, cameras, lighting, and production teams.

• Capability to identify design inconsistencies, technical limitations, and potential execution obstacles.

• Strong analytical and critical-thinking abilities, with the capacity to objectively evaluate creative work.

• Excellent command of written English and the skill to convey professional judgments clearly and succinctly.
