Production Designer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Analyze set designs, room layouts, production environments, and visual concepts in relation to creative briefs, scripts, and project specifications.

• Evaluate elements such as composition, scale, proportions, spatial organization, color schemes, textures, materials, and overall visual harmony.

• Assess sightlines, camera angles, framing, lighting considerations, actor movement, and the functional aspects of the space.

• Identify potential execution challenges, including impractical layouts, inappropriate materials, inaccuracies in period details, continuity issues, and construction limitations.

• Determine if proposed designs effectively support the narrative, setting, ambiance, characters, and the intended visual direction.

• Evaluate whether design concepts are feasible within the existing budget, production timeline, and technical limitations.

• Record findings and articulate the rationale for each evaluation, emphasizing strengths, weaknesses, risks, and areas for enhancement.

• Compare various design proposals to identify which solution best fulfills the creative and practical needs.

⛳️ Requirements

• Professional background in one or more of the following roles: Production Designer, Set Designer, Art Director, Set Decorator, Assistant Art Director, Theatre Designer, Scenic Designer, or similar positions in production or spatial design.

• Proven experience in actual productions, including familiarity with creative briefs, scripts, budgets, set construction, installation, filming, or execution of production.

• Strong grasp of spatial design, visual storytelling, composition, materials, textures, color theory, and production settings.

• Practical understanding of how sets and designed environments operate for performers, cameras, lighting, and production teams.

• Capability to pinpoint design inconsistencies, technical limitations, and possible execution obstacles.

• Strong analytical and critical-thinking abilities, with a knack for objectively evaluating creative work.

• Excellent command of written English and the capacity to convey professional assessments clearly and succinctly.
