Product Operations Manager – Scrum

Posted Jul 29

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• Lead all essential Scrum events — including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives — ensuring they occur on time, remain focused, and facilitate genuine inspection and adaptation.

• Foster an environment within the team that is open, non-judgmental, and trustworthy, while prioritizing problem-solving and self-organization.

• Shield the team from external disruptions and undue pressure throughout the sprint, promptly escalating and resolving obstacles as they arise.

• Guide the team and Product Owner on Agile practices, backlog development, story splitting, and defining the criteria for readiness and completion to maintain a healthy, well-organized backlog.

• Evaluate the Scrum maturity of the team and organization, coaching the team towards higher maturity levels at a sustainable pace.

• Facilitate or assist in program-level ceremonies such as PI Planning, Scrum of Scrums, or inter-team syncs within scaled frameworks (e.g., SAFe).

• Collaborate across teams to identify, monitor, and resolve inter-team dependencies and conflicts before they hinder delivery.

• Standardize Scrum methodologies and reporting across various teams to ensure consistency while preserving team-level autonomy.

• Mentor and assist less experienced Scrum Masters by sharing facilitation techniques, coaching strategies, and insights into organizational context.

• Monitor and report on team and program-level metrics (velocity, cycle time, predictability, defect rates) to provide teams and leadership with a clear, current view of progress.

• Encourage transparency by ensuring Scrum artifacts and dashboards are accurate, up-to-date, and accessible to the entire organization.

• Act as the main liaison between the Scrum team, Product Management, engineering leadership, and other departments concerning process and delivery inquiries.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.

• Over 5 years of experience as a Scrum Master or in an Agile facilitation role, including the ability to support multiple teams concurrently.

• Certification as a ScrumMaster (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master (PSM I/II) is mandatory.

• Advanced certification is highly preferred: Advanced Certified ScrumMaster (A-CSM), Certified Scrum Professional (CSP-SM), SAFe Scrum Master (SSM), or SAFe Advanced Scrum Master (SASM).

• Proven experience in facilitating Scrum for complex, high-profile projects or teams.

• Experience in a scaled Agile environment (e.g., SAFe Agile Release Trains) is strongly preferred.

• Familiarity with AI-driven productivity tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, Claude, Rovo, or similar) to enhance reporting, documentation, and daily facilitation tasks is a plus.

• Experience in government technology at the state and local levels is highly preferred.

🏝️ Benefits

• Competitive benefits and compensation package.
