This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +36 more states.
• Develop a comprehensive COGS architecture with tracking for BOM-level engineering changes and initiatives aimed at cost savings.
• Take ownership of the reforecast streamlining project, achieving a continuous 12-month model for the organization by December 2026.
• Create a robust labor allocation framework for both hardware and software engineering.
• Set standards for financial due diligence concerning new product launches in hardware and software, as well as Go/No-Go decisions.
• Act as the senior financial authority and strategic collaborator with leadership in Hardware Engineering, Software Product, and Operations.
• Conduct financial analyses for product launches, focusing on BOM economics, capitalization strategies, logistics expenses, and long-term margin effects.
• Oversee the company's software R&D capitalization strategy, including policies, schedules, and ROI alignment.
• Manage the financial architecture for global logistics, warehousing, and last-mile delivery operations.
• Spearhead margin enhancement initiatives utilizing Snowflake data across shipping, sourcing, carrier selection, and manufacturing yield economics.
• Convert warranty data into trends regarding hardware reliability to guide product design and minimize warranty expenses.
• Revamp budgeting for Product and Operations into a driver-based 12-month rolling forecast using Adaptive Planning.
• Provide variance analysis and financial narratives for engineering, operations, and executive stakeholders.
• Comprehend and model the lifecycle of hardware product development from design and sourcing to manufacturing, certification, and launch.
• Serve as the subject-matter expert on the financial aspects of software product development cycles.
• Mentor and guide one Senior Financial Analyst.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Engineering with a financial focus.
• 7–10 years of advanced FP&A experience in a lead finance role supporting Hardware Engineering, Manufacturing, or Supply Chain environments.
• Practical expertise in hardware COGS and inventory accounting, including BOM analysis, cost variance investigations, and tracking cost savings.
• Background in R&D capitalization and metrics for SaaS/connected devices in software.
• Experience in supporting multi-phase hardware product development from inception to launch, including milestone-based expenditures, tooling amortization, and NPI cost structures.
• Familiarity with software product development throughout roadmap cycles, including management of capitalization policies, sprint-to-quarter reconciliations, and ROI evaluations at the feature level.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel, including complex nested functions, Power Query, and scalable financial models.
• Knowledge of GAAP/IFRS financial statements and the ability to convey accounting implications to non-financial stakeholders.
• Strong executive presence and communication skills to effectively engage as a credible peer with VPs of engineering and operations.
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Preferred: MBA.
• Preferred: Proficiency in Adaptive Planning enterprise modeling.
• Preferred: Experience with Tableau or similar BI dashboard tools utilizing Snowflake data.
• Preferred: SQL skills for independently extracting and validating datasets.
