This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.
• Establish goals and specifications for each new page or feature in collaboration with researchers and designers.
• Prioritize tasks across the website based on user needs and usability considerations.
• Define standards for page layouts, filters, charts, terminology, and shared site components.
• Manage projects from initial goals and specifications through design, development, quality assurance, and launch.
• Collect design feedback from prospective users prior to development.
• Ensure developers receive the necessary information and determine the timeline for deployment.
• Provide design critiques and respond to inquiries from designers and developers.
• Utilize analytics, feedback forms, and user-panel interviews to inform product decisions.
• Oversee quality assurance by reviewing each page before launch and identifying usability and functionality issues.
• Collaborate with design, web development, communications, and research teams.
• Manage the presentation and integration of reports and data insights into the website.
• Report directly to the COO as an individual contributor without any direct reports.
• Strong product sensibility with the ability to distinguish between clear and cluttered or confusing experiences.
• Proficient in writing concise one-page briefs, decision notes, and messages on Slack.
• Comfortable working with data, charts, and research, including the ability to interpret scatter plots and numerical contexts.
• Understanding of diverse audiences including policymakers, journalists, researchers, and individuals in AI laboratories.
• Experience in launching web products in collaboration with designers and developers.
• Capacity to communicate product decisions and adapt plans when necessary.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to track decisions and follow up effectively.
• Willingness to travel; attendance at three annual team retreats is required.
• Professional-level proficiency in English.
• Availability for at least three hours of overlap with Pacific Time (UTC–8).
• Open to candidates from all backgrounds, experiences, and credentials.
• Familiarity with Epoch's research or broader AI concepts is a plus.
• Prior experience in product management is advantageous.
• Basic front-end knowledge to discuss feasibility with developers is beneficial.
• Comfort with AI coding tools is a plus.
• Annual salary ranging from $115,000 to $185,000 USD, based on location and experience.
• Salary adjustments for candidates located in the San Francisco Bay Area, Washington DC, New York City, and selected high-cost countries.
