This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take ownership of the data platform, which encompasses cloud infrastructure, distributed computing, pipeline orchestration, and delivery mechanisms for essential data products and the open science initiative.
• Collect and prioritize requirements from teams reliant on the platform.
• Convert platform needs into well-defined technical specifications for engineering teams.
• Collaborate with engineering teams, fellow product managers, and external contractors to implement and deliver features.
• Enhance documentation and improve the developer experience.
• Establish and monitor success metrics related to adoption, reliability, delivery time, cost, and other vital indicators.
• Adhere to information security policies and responsibilities, which include security training, data protection, credential security, and incident reporting.
• Ensure that direct reports complete security training, communicate security requirements, and escalate security issues when necessary.
• Follow secure development and change management practices, safeguard customer data, and address security vulnerabilities.
• A degree or equivalent experience in computer science, engineering, data science, machine learning, geospatial science, or a related quantitative field.
• Over 3 years of experience in technical product management, platform management, or data engineering roles.
• Proven ability to coordinate multiple engineering teams to achieve production-grade delivery.
• Experience with cloud-native geospatial data on continental to global scales.
• Background in developing external-facing or data-as-a-service APIs.
• Practical knowledge of cloud infrastructure, distributed computing, and workflow orchestration.
• Excellent technical writing skills with the capability to convert direction into actionable specifications.
• Ability to thrive in a fully remote, fast-paced startup environment.
