Product Manager – Brokerage

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.

📋 Description

• Develop the strategy and manage the complete expansion of Alpaca's brokerage infrastructure in EU markets.

• Oversee brokerage products customized for EU markets, including equities, ETFs, tax-wrapper accounts, and related regional offerings.

• Manage the EU tax and tax-wrapper product surface, including wrapper eligibility, contribution guidelines, tax-lot/cost-basis tracking, withholding and reclaim processes, and local reporting files.

• Conduct ROI analysis, assess regional market competition, regulatory obligations, and evaluate build-vs-buy options.

• Create and implement the product roadmap featuring MiFID II / MiFIR-compliant functionalities and catering to regional market demands.

• Draft product requirements and collaborate with engineers to implement programs that adhere to local regulatory and market standards.

• Enhance the efficiency of brokerage operations and take ownership of metrics, with an emphasis on regional settlement, custody, and clearing workflows.

• Lead customer discussions regarding brokerage processes and product challenges, translating insights into product enhancements.

• Provide product status updates and results to internal and external stakeholders, including regional partners and institutional clients.

• Work alongside local operations teams to integrate Alpaca's global platform with EU market infrastructure.

• Assess, onboard, and integrate local brokers; establish and maintain connectivity to EU venues and market infrastructure.

• Collaborate with regulators, partners, and internal teams to establish Alpaca as the preferred brokerage platform throughout the EU.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, finance, or a related field.

• Over 5 years of experience in Product Management, Engineering, Consulting, and/or launching a startup, ideally within financial services or fintech.

• Proven interest and experience in brokerage, capital markets, or fintech within the EU.

• In-depth understanding of MiFID II / MiFIR, ESMA, the EU capital markets landscape, and how member-state tax and tax-wrapper regulations influence product design.

• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal, accompanied by strong collaboration capabilities.

• Business insight to comprehend trade-offs between stakeholders and technological feasibility within time and budget limitations.

• Experience and background in developing brokerage products for EU markets.

• Technical expertise working with APIs, especially in financial services or trading platforms.

• Familiarity with CSDR, EMIR, T2S, or CSD connectivity.

• Practical experience in delivering tax-wrapper or tax-reporting products (e.g., PEA / PEA-PME, ISK, PIR), including tax lots, withholding, and local reporting files.

• Experience in cross-border / passporting investment products.

• Proficiency in additional EU languages beyond English.

• Background working in a fintech, startup, or EU-authorized investment firm.
