This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.
• Take ownership of the product journey from a developer's laptop to production, encompassing local development with the CLI, migrations and seed data, configuration as code, pull-request branches, GitHub integration, testing, and deployment to production.
• Engage with customers ranging from independent developers and startups to larger platforms and enterprise teams to understand their needs and shape the product roadmap.
• Seamlessly integrate the CLI, migrations, seeds, configuration, branches, and Git integration into a unified developer workflow.
• Establish launch metrics, define thresholds, and conduct post-launch analyses.
• Manage problem statements, gather customer evidence, address technical constraints, set targets, and make decisions regarding free versus paid environments.
• Prioritize development tasks, deciding what should be built, deferred, or eliminated with respect to developer ergonomics, partner platforms, enterprise release requirements, and infrastructure projects.
• Advocate for priorities, delineate non-scope items, and manage SLO and error-budget trade-offs.
• Coordinate efforts among engineering, design, and leadership teams across compute, storage, CLI, dashboard, and GitHub integration dependencies.
• A minimum of 7 years of product management experience in developer tools, or prior experience as a founder with a strong instinct for product development.
• Hands-on technical proficiency, which includes participating in design discussions and engaging with the code, whether with or without AI tools.
• Proven experience in launching products that enhance the developer workflow.
• Familiarity with local development tools, migrations, CI/CD processes, ephemeral or preview environments, or Git-integrated deployments.
• Insight into the trade-offs between CLI and dashboard products.
• Knowledge of schema-only environments compared to those with data.
• Understanding of copy-on-write clones versus dump-and-restore approaches.
• Awareness of branching and merging in stateful systems.
• Comprehension of configuration-file workflow trade-offs.
• Familiarity with the Postgres ecosystem, including migrations, extensions, and related tools, is an advantage.
• A proactive approach and the capability to break down large initiatives into manageable tasks.
• Ability to personally build and run the workflow.
• Experience utilizing AI tools to enhance productivity.
• Capacity to work asynchronously and make written decisions effectively.
