This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Articulate and share the product vision for the migration from legacy systems to REST, ensuring alignment with the VA mission and the needs of veterans and staff.
• Create and uphold a prioritized product roadmap.
• Set and monitor success metrics and outcomes for the product.
• Conduct stakeholder discovery sessions with VA program stakeholders.
• Manage and prioritize the product backlog.
• Translate migration requirements into features, epics, and user stories.
• Balance the development of features with considerations for technical debt, compliance, and operational requirements.
• Coordinate trade-off decisions with VA leadership.
• Collaborate with engineers, DevOps, and Experience Design teams to deliver migration capabilities.
• Lead agile ceremonies, including planning, refinement, demonstrations, and retrospectives.
• Ensure that development aligns with product objectives and acceptance criteria.
• Advocate for the needs of veteran and VA staff users.
• Engage with VA stakeholders to collect feedback and adjust priorities accordingly.
• Communicate updates on product progress, roadmap changes, and outcome metrics to leadership.
• Monitor product performance and usage metrics following migration.
• Identify opportunities for enhancing usability, adoption, and business impact.
• Iterate based on data insights, stakeholder feedback, and the evolving needs of the VA mission.
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Health Informatics, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Over 5 years of experience in product management, product ownership, or similar roles.
• Proven experience in defining and delivering digital products or enterprise software solutions.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams in agile settings.
• Background in healthcare IT modernization or legacy system migration projects.
• Agile or delivery certifications (e.g., PMP, SAFe, CSM).
• Experience in developing product roadmaps and managing product backlogs.
• Familiarity with agile frameworks (e.g., SAFe, Scrum).
• Experience working with the Department of Veterans Affairs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to convert mission needs into clear product requirements.
• Proven ability to influence stakeholders without direct authority.
• Strong analytical, prioritization, and decision-making abilities.
• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Preferred: Experience with VA appointment systems, VistaLink, or similar scheduling/communication platforms.
• Preferred: Experience managing initiatives related to legacy-to-REST or legacy modernization migrations.
• Preferred: Familiarity with VA/VistA domain concepts or comparable federal healthcare systems.
