This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Oversee product strategy and implementation within the Veterans Affairs program.
• Cultivate client relationships from a product management perspective.
• Act as a people manager, leader, mentor, and subject matter expert.
• Convert program and organizational goals into clear priorities for the team.
• Enhance product management practices while ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, budget, and client expectations.
• Track and report on the progress of program and product delivery, including challenges, dependencies, and leadership concerns.
• Independently lead intricate assignments and initiatives.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to synchronize product priorities, delivery requirements, and program goals.
• Develop client stakeholder relationships and translate business and user needs into product direction.
• Manage competing priorities, facilitate agreement, and foster consensus.
• Identify potential risks, propose mitigation strategies, and implement approved plans.
• Contribute to ongoing improvements across teams.
• Coach, mentor, and develop members of the product team.
• Oversee employee performance, feedback, evaluations, compensation, and bonus recommendations.
• Address performance issues and support employee development and internal mobility.
• Manage timecards, paid time off, onboarding, and team growth for direct reports.
• Assist in hiring through interviews, candidate assessments, interview exercises, and hiring management.
• Build consensus, resolve conflicts, promote innovation, and support organizational change.
• Support processes that enhance program and business-unit efficiency.
• Contribute to proposals, bids, technical demonstrations, strategic planning, and customer-facing initiatives.
• Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of pertinent professional experience.
• Additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of educational qualifications.
• At least 3 years of experience in leading or directing work across cross-functional teams.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in mentoring, coaching, or developing team members.
• Proven experience in leading product strategy, product delivery, or product management for complex programs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for engaging with clients, leadership, and cross-functional teams.
• Capable of managing competing priorities and independently leading complex initiatives.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship, either now or in the future.
• Required to successfully obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance.
• Preferred: Extensive experience supporting U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs programs, products, or digital services.
• Preferred: Experience in managing and influencing senior-level stakeholders within complex organizations or federal programs.
• Preferred: Proven track record of building trusted relationships with government clients, program leadership, and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Preferred: Experience in navigating competing stakeholder priorities, building consensus, and translating business and user requirements into product strategy.
• Preferred: Experience managing product teams within federal government programs.
• Preferred: Familiarity with government contracting environments and relevant requirements and regulations.
• Preferred: CSPO, CPM, CSM, or other relevant product or Agile certifications.
• Preferred: Experience in contributing to proposals, bids, technical demonstrations, or other growth initiatives.
