This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.
• Design and create semiconductor test contactors, alignment frames, sockets, and plug-and-play interface solutions.
• Generate detailed 3D models, assemblies, drawings, and engineering documentation utilizing SolidWorks.
• Develop designs that fulfill customer specifications, manufacturability goals, and reliability standards.
• Assist in new product introduction (NPI) efforts from the initial concept to production launch.
• Conduct tolerance analyses and mechanical stack-up evaluations for precision assemblies.
• Innovate solutions for intricate semiconductor test applications.
• Execute structural, thermal, and motion analyses using SolidWorks Simulation and/or ANSYS.
• Assess product performance under production testing conditions.
• Identify design risks and implement corrective measures before product release.
• Assist in failure analysis and root cause investigations.
• Create and maintain engineering drawings, BOMs, specifications, and assembly documentation.
• Oversee product data, revisions, and workflows via SolidWorks PDM.
• Assist with Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and manage document control processes.
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams to address design and assembly challenges.
• Aid in prototype builds, engineering evaluations, and qualification testing.
• Partner with suppliers and internal stakeholders to enhance quality, reduce costs, and shorten lead times.
• Implement best practices for Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).
• Effectively communicate project status, risks, and recommendations.
• Expert-level proficiency in SolidWorks.
• Extensive experience with SolidWorks PDM.
• Strong background in mechanical design and product development.
• Proficiency in GD&T, tolerance analysis, and precision mechanical assemblies.
• Working knowledge of FEA and engineering simulation techniques.
• Familiarity with machining, fabrication, plastics, and various manufacturing processes.
• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis capabilities.
• Experience in designing semiconductor test contactors, sockets, alignment systems, test fixtures, or comparable high-precision electromechanical products.
• Understanding of semiconductor test environments and production testing requirements.
• Proven ability to take designs from concept to production release.
• Experience with ANSYS Mechanical and/or Thermal simulation.
• Familiarity with DriveWorks design automation.
• Knowledge of Oracle ERP systems.
• Familiarity with semiconductor automated test equipment (ATE), handlers, or related test hardware.
• Experience in supporting high-volume manufacturing environments.
• Demonstrated effectiveness in a fully remote work environment with limited supervision.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for collaboration across geographically distributed teams.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes within tight project timelines.
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related engineering discipline is required.
• Master's degree is preferred.
• Over 10 years of mechanical design engineering experience.
• More than 5 years of experience in semiconductor test, contactor, socket, alignment system, or related precision electromechanical product development.
• Proven success in leading complex engineering projects from concept to production release.
• Ability to quickly and independently become productive in a contract assignment environment.
