Product Designer – Core

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the design for fundamental Chess.com experiences.

• Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, Copywriters, and leadership to define challenges and create impactful product experiences collectively.

• Create polished, user-friendly interfaces for both web and mobile platforms utilizing Chess.com’s design system.

• Present your design proposals and effectively communicate your decisions, supported by contextual reasoning, heuristics, and user insights whenever possible.

• Develop interactive prototypes to share and rapidly test concepts using advanced tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, and Figma Make.

• Oversee your projects from the initial idea through to implementation, ensuring alignment between design and code throughout the process.

• Actively propose and design significant enhancements to our product that enhance enjoyment and consistency across various platforms.

• Provide and solicit constructive design feedback to elevate the standard for everyone involved.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience designing consumer-facing products or games, preferably with a substantial and engaged user base.

• A portfolio showcasing your finest design work that reflects a solid grasp of interface and user experience design.

• Proficiency in UI design principles, including typography, color theory, layout, visual hierarchy, alignment, contrast, and interactivity.

• Significant experience in designing applications for both web and mobile environments.

• Proficiency in Figma and the ability to work comfortably within an established design system.

• Familiarity with advanced tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, and Figma Make for prototyping and iterative design processes.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills that enable you to document and articulate your design choices effectively.
