This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee and provide guidance to a team of designers through coaching, mentorship, performance management, and career advancement.
• Carry out regular growth discussions, development planning, and performance evaluations.
• Assist individuals in recognizing their strengths, potential growth areas, and career paths.
• Cultivate an inclusive, psychologically safe, and collaborative team environment.
• Aid in onboarding, retention, succession planning, and internal mobility initiatives.
• Collaborate with recruiting teams on hiring strategies, interview processes, and talent assessment.
• Enhance team operations, communication practices, and collaboration methods.
• Identify organizational challenges and implement improvements in workflows.
• Establish effective management practices, feedback mechanisms, and growth frameworks.
• Work alongside Design Directors and project leads to ensure team alignment and organizational clarity.
• Contribute to scalable management practices and design organization standards.
• Foster design craft development through coaching, a culture of critique, mentorship programs, and educational initiatives.
• Identify skill gaps and create opportunities for development.
• Shape internal learning pathways, design competencies, and capability frameworks.
• Explore emerging trends in design practices, collaboration tools, and organizational design.
• Evaluate industry directions and their implications for team skills, operating models, and creative processes.
• Suggest experiments involving AI workflow enhancements.
• Share insights and strategic recommendations with design leadership.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in product design.
• At least 2 years of experience in managing designers.
• Proven experience in creating excellent products and nurturing designers within complex product or organizational settings.
• Strong skills in coaching, mentorship, feedback, and performance management.
• High emotional intelligence, effective communication skills, and organizational awareness.
• Experience in fostering healthy team cultures and scalable management practices.
• Deep knowledge of contemporary product design workflows and creative collaboration.
• Curiosity about emerging technologies, AI-assisted design workflows, and evolving design methodologies.
• Ability to balance strategic thinking with practical leadership of people.
• Experience designing for K–12 educators and/or students is preferred.
• Familiarity with classroom workflows, curriculum products, or assessment systems is preferred.
• A background in learning science, accessibility, or inclusive design is preferred.
• Experience across digital and print-connected ecosystems is preferred.
• Personal experience with teaching, tutoring, or supporting K–12 students is preferred.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted design tools is preferred.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Willingness to travel to Amplify headquarters in New York for in-person onboarding or as needed periodically.
