This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more country.
• Act as the first in-house buyer at Sardine, facilitating purchases across software and IT, marketing and events, travel and employee onboarding, professional services, and other categories.
• Oversee vendor relationships and serve as the primary contact for sourcing and finalizing agreements.
• Manage negotiations, payment terms, ramp-up, renewal protection, and various other commercial conditions.
• Monitor contracts and renewals, guiding stakeholders through the purchasing process.
• Ensure the company acquires suitable tools and services at competitive prices.
• Oversee the complete vendor lifecycle while balancing business requirements, commercial terms, vendor risk, and maintaining healthy long-term partnerships.
• Collaborate with Finance, IT, Legal, Security, and business leaders.
• Generate savings by consolidating redundant tools, reclaiming unused licenses, and assessing market alternatives.
• Develop procurement processes from the ground up and engage in hands-on procurement activities.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, vendor management, or commercial negotiations, preferably within a high-growth technology or software company.
• Demonstrated success in independently managing vendor negotiations, contract management, and renewal tracking across various functions and spending categories.
• Experience in competitively evaluating vendors and negotiating advantageous pricing and terms.
• Ability to influence stakeholders effectively, assertively push back when necessary, and collaborate cross-functionally.
• Proven history of establishing procurement processes from the ground up, including intake/PO workflows, contract and renewal tracking, spend visibility, and selecting lightweight tools like a spend-management or CLM platform.
• Experience in coordinating vendor security and data privacy evaluations, including SOC 2 and DPAs.
• Familiarity with reviewing key contract risk terms, including indemnification, liability caps, and insurance, in conjunction with Legal/Security.
• Strong executive-level written communication, presentation, and relationship management skills.
