This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Assist in optimization initiatives focused on controls to enhance product flow, stability, and throughput on corrugated machinery.
• Analyze, modify, test, and validate PLC and HMI control methods to enhance line performance and minimize operator involvement.
• Collaborate with Operations, Process Control, IT, and Electrical & Instrumentation teams to pinpoint improvements, create test plans, and carry out production trials.
• Aid in the startup and commissioning of new or upgraded machinery.
• Create documentation and standardized strategies to maintain and replicate control enhancements across various sites.
• Engage in troubleshooting, commissioning, and optimization tasks while fostering controls expertise among site engineers and technicians.
• Practical experience in supporting industrial control systems within a manufacturing setting.
• Proficient in troubleshooting, configuring, and modifying Allen Bradley and/or Siemens PLC and HMI systems.
• Experience in implementing and validating control modifications in active production settings alongside operations and maintenance teams.
• Familiarity with industrial electrical systems, encompassing control panels, field devices, and industrial power distribution.
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% to meet site requirements.
• Excellent communication skills and capability to collaborate effectively with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams.
• An associate’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline is preferred; equivalent practical experience will also be taken into account.
• Background in supporting corrugated operations, including corrugators, flexo folder gluers, rotary die cutters, and associated material handling equipment.
• Knowledge of converting line control behavior, including accumulation/backpressure, stop/start logic, sequencing and permissives, speed coordination, and fault recovery.
• Experience with VFDs, servo or motion systems, and industrial networks.
• Familiarity with machine safety systems, such as safety PLCs, interlocks, guarding, and functional safety principles.
• Experience with legacy equipment.
• Ability to document control enhancements clearly.
• Interest in mentoring or assisting less experienced engineers or technicians.
