This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Analyze and interpret clinical documentation to accurately assign diagnosis, procedure, and evaluation and management (E/M) codes.
• Implement ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, HCPCS Level II, and modifier coding guidelines in accordance with official coding conventions and regulatory standards.
• Code physician services for inpatient, outpatient, and ancillary interactions.
• Ensure adherence to CMS, Medicare, Medicaid, commercial payer, and client-specific coding guidelines.
• Recognize documentation gaps and communicate the need for coding clarifications through the appropriate channels.
• Meet turnaround times, productivity benchmarks, and quality expectations while effectively managing workload autonomously.
• Engage in coding audits, quality assessments, educational sessions, and initiatives for process enhancement.
• Remain updated on coding revisions, regulatory changes, payer policies, and industry best practices.
• Collaborate with coding leadership, auditors, and client representatives to address coding-related concerns.
• Contribute to revenue cycle optimization through precise and timely coding practices.
• Minimum of 2+ years of experience in both inpatient and outpatient physician-fee medical coding.
• Familiarity with inpatient, long-term care, observation, emergency services, same-day surgery, clinic visits, and ancillary services.
• Experience across various specialties including cardiology, dentistry and oral/maxillofacial surgery, dermatology, endocrinology, otolaryngology (ENT), gastroenterology, hematology/oncology, infectious disease, internal medicine, musculoskeletal/orthopedic medicine, nephrology, neurology, obstetrics and gynecology, optometry/ophthalmology, anesthesiology, pain management and palliative care, psychology, pulmonary medicine, rheumatology, general surgery, plastic surgery, and urology.
• Current AAPC or AHIMA coding certification is mandatory.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively in a remote setting.
