This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.
• Analyze and interpret clinical documentation to assign precise diagnosis, procedure, and evaluation and management (E/M) codes
• Implement ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, HCPCS Level II, and modifier coding guidelines
• Code physician services for inpatient, outpatient, and ancillary encounters
• Ensure adherence to CMS, Medicare, Medicaid, commercial payer, and client-specific standards
• Recognize documentation gaps and communicate the need for coding clarifications
• Achieve turnaround times, productivity goals, and quality benchmarks while managing workload autonomously
• Engage in coding audits, quality assessments, educational sessions, and initiatives for process enhancement
• Stay updated on coding changes, regulatory developments, payer policies, and industry best practices
• Collaborate with coding leadership, auditors, and client representatives to address coding-related challenges
• Enhance revenue cycle optimization through precise and prompt coding practices
• Minimum of 2+ years of experience in both inpatient and outpatient physician-fee medical coding
• Familiarity with various encounter types including Inpatient, Long Term Care, Observation, Emergency, Same Day Surgery, Clinic Visits, and Ancillary services
• Background in specialties such as cardiology, dentistry and oral/maxillofacial surgery, dermatology, endocrinology, otolaryngology (ENT), gastroenterology, hematology/oncology, infectious disease, internal medicine, musculoskeletal/orthopedic medicine, nephrology, neurology, obstetrics and gynecology, optometry/ophthalmology, anesthesiology, pain management and palliative care, psychology, pulmonary medicine, rheumatology, general surgery, plastic surgery, and urology
• Active AAPC or AHIMA coding certification is required
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively in a remote setting
• Epic experience is highly preferred
• Proficient understanding of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, HCPCS Level II, modifier coding guidelines, official coding conventions, and regulatory standards
• Knowledge of compliance pertaining to CMS, Medicare, Medicaid, commercial payer, and client-specific coding requirements
