This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.
• Assess emergency department medical records and allocate ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes, CPT/HCPCS procedure codes, and relevant modifiers.
• Assign facility Evaluation and Management (E/M) levels by utilizing client-specific guidelines, facility charging methodologies, and the ACEP tool.
• Evaluate documentation from nursing personnel, physicians, ancillary services, and diagnostic reports to ensure accurate code assignment and charge capture.
• Implement official coding guidelines, CMS regulations, NCCI edits, and requirements specific to payers.
• Review accounts related to procedural services, including injections and infusions.
• Detect documentation gaps and communicate the need for coding clarifications.
• Ensure adherence to Medicare, Medicaid, commercial payer, and organizational coding policies.
• Engage in coding quality reviews, audits, educational programs, and process enhancement initiatives.
• Stay updated on coding, reimbursement, and regulatory developments.
• Work collaboratively with coding leadership, auditors, and client representatives to address coding-related challenges.
