Prior Authorization Technician – Pharmacy Technician

πŸ“‹ Description

β€’ Deliver patient care by eliminating obstacles to medication access.

β€’ Collaborate with insurance providers and clinician offices to expedite medication approvals through prior authorizations.

β€’ Offer phone support to patients by navigating pharmacy dispensing systems to process claims, refill medications, and enhance patient adherence.

β€’ Communicate directly with insurance companies to facilitate medication approval.

β€’ Utilize pharmacy operating systems to enter data, perform adjudication on test claims, and develop follow-up action plans.

β€’ Effectively document patient concerns, prior authorization statuses, and financial assistance needs across databases, electronic medical records, and emails.

β€’ Review prescriptions with healthcare providers to ensure optimal patient care.

β€’ Maintain comprehensive and accurate records of patient interactions.

β€’ Assist patients in managing their pharmacy insurance claims.

β€’ Collaborate closely with pharmacists and pharmacy liaisons to provide integrated, high-quality patient care.

β€’ Directly communicate with patients over the phone to support all aspects of medication compliance.

β€’ Research and analyze information to enable informed decision-making for others.

β€’ Manage, organize, and update pertinent data utilizing database applications.

β€’ Apply insights and recommendations to operational challenges, enhancing productivity, quality, and customer service standards.

β€’ Identify trends, troubleshoot issues, recommend enhancements, and implement changes.

β€’ Actively engage in process improvement initiatives.

β€’ Serve as a valued business partner to stakeholders across the organization.

β€’ Safeguard the organization's integrity by maintaining confidentiality of information.

β€’ Enhance job knowledge through educational opportunities, reading professional literature, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.

β€’ Minimal travel, either in-state or out-of-state, may be required.

β€’ Perform additional duties as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

β€’ A minimum of 1 year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician.

β€’ Must be state registered or certified as a pharmacy technician.

β€’ National certification as a CPhT or an equivalent qualification is strongly preferred but not mandatory.

β€’ High school diploma or GED is required.
