Principal Windows System Administrator – Business Availability, Disaster Recovery

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut.

📋 Description

• Direct the design, validation, and enhancement of high-availability and disaster recovery solutions within the company's Windows infrastructure.

• Spearhead the Business Availability and Disaster Recovery strategy for Windows systems across the account.

• Ensure alignment of availability and disaster recovery strategies with corporate business goals and objectives.

• Evaluate and document the current-state Windows solution architectures.

• Design and propose high-availability Windows solutions, which include Microsoft Server clustering and VMware-based infrastructure.

• Formulate migration strategies, implementation roadmaps, and bills of materials for Windows environments.

• Guarantee effective integration of Windows solutions with the Disaster Recovery practice.

• Collaborate with account teams to acquire operational knowledge and assist in transition planning.

• Conduct design reviews to confirm that Windows solutions fulfill recovery objectives.

• Maintain ownership of DR documentation, runbooks, and supporting artifacts for Windows systems.

• Organize and execute scheduled DR testing activities.

• Monitor and assess DR infrastructure capacity across both on-premises and cloud environments.

• Provide systems administration for Windows, encompassing installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of hardware, software, applications, and connectivity.

• Offer guidance on programming tools, database systems, and networks pertinent to Windows environments.

• Address daily incident tickets, ensure system compliance, and facilitate testing, staging, and improvement of policies and procedures.

• Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to provide recommendations for resolving availability and reliability challenges.

⛳️ Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship and residency are required.

• A BA/BS degree and over 8 years of relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Expert-level knowledge in Windows systems administration applied to Business Availability and/or Disaster Recovery design for enterprise infrastructure.

• Demonstrated capability to lead Business Availability and Disaster Recovery design and strategy, while advising the organization on complex, business-critical availability and recovery matters.

• Experience with Microsoft Server, including clustering technologies.

• Familiarity with VMware technologies.

• Understanding of disaster recovery and high availability practices in cloud environments, specifically Oracle OCI and Microsoft Azure.

• Eligibility for any necessary U.S. Government authorizations for access to export-controlled commodities and technology.
