Principal Technical Program Manager, Performance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership and lead initiatives within Reddit's Performance portfolio, which includes mobile and web performance, client reliability, crucial user journeys, observability, experimentation guidelines, release quality, and long-term performance operational frameworks.

• Collaborate closely with engineering teams as a technical peer.

• Establish and advance the operational model for ongoing performance enhancement.

• Foster the necessary organizational transformation to embed performance as a lasting aspect of Reddit’s engineering culture.

• Create communication and enablement strategies that engage both engineers and leaders throughout the process.

• Develop measurement systems that differentiate genuine user experience enhancements from superficial metric changes.

• Promote performance governance and adoption while maintaining team accountability.

⛳️ Requirements

• 14+ years of experience in technical program management, engineering, infrastructure, client platforms, mobile or web platforms, performance engineering, reliability, observability, or similar technical fields.

• Directed multi-year, multi-organizational technical programs with visibility at the executive level and ambiguous ownership.

• Profound knowledge of performance and reliability systems, including client platforms, app health, observability, experimentation, release quality, user journey measurement, infrastructure, or production readiness.

• Comprehend performance in a broader context beyond individual metrics.

• Data-driven mindset, yet discerning about superficial metrics.

• Outstanding cross-functional operator and communicator.

• Have led significant organizational change, rather than merely managing program execution.

• Results-oriented, with a focus on actionable outcomes rather than status reporting, process formality, or activity metrics.

• Practical and iterative; capable of introducing structure without hindering team dynamics.
