This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Idaho, +1 more state.
• Lead the strategy and execution of cultural resource initiatives throughout the Great Basin.
• Act as a permitted BLM Principal Investigator in Idaho and the surrounding Great Basin areas.
• Secure BLM Cultural Resources Use Permits along with other necessary federal and state permits.
• Ensure senior-level quality assurance and quality control for cultural resource outputs.
• Supervise desktop studies and fieldwork, which includes reconnaissance surveys, pedestrian surveys, testing, excavations, and construction monitoring.
• Guide, mentor, oversee, and foster the development of archaeologists at various stages in their careers.
• Collaborate with Cultural Resources Business Unit Leads, the Consulting Director for Archaeology, Area Managers, and Managing Partners.
• Function as Principal Investigator and/or Task Manager for cultural resource assessments on significant capital projects.
• Manage projects that range from multi-state linear infrastructure programs to specific site investigations.
• Enhance ERM’s visibility in the cultural resources consulting market through technical delivery and business development efforts.
• Build strong client relationships, create partnerships, and identify opportunities for cross-selling services.
• Work alongside environmental planners, biologists, wetland specialists, GIS experts, engineers, and other technical professionals.
• Represent ERM during communications and meetings with clients, agencies, stakeholders, teaming partners, and subcontractors.
• Oversee subcontractors to ensure quality, adherence to schedules, and performance standards.
• Graduate degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience.
• 6–8 years of relevant paid experience.
• Qualified archaeologist under the Secretary of the Interior, listed as a Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA), fulfilling or exceeding SHPO standards within the Great Basin.
• Proven field experience and principal-level oversight across the Great Basin, including inventory, survey, testing, and data recovery.
• Experience in authoring or reviewing agency-reviewed technical reports, including Class I and Class III reports, NEPA documentation, Cultural Resources Treatment Plans, and other regulatory compliance papers.
• Experience in direct interactions with regulatory agencies while advocating for client interests.
• Capability to collaborate effectively with archaeologists and interdisciplinary technical specialists.
• Willingness and ability to travel occasionally throughout the Great Basin.
• Familiarity with GPS equipment, total stations, ArcGIS Field Maps, Survey123, and similar applications.
• Valid driver’s license and/or ability to operate a company vehicle.
• Existing BLM permitting credentials are preferred.
• Established relationships with federal, state, tribal, and local regulatory agencies are preferred.
• Preferred experience in business development and maintaining key client relationships.
• Experience in managing large, complex cultural resource programs is preferred.
• Preferred background in overseeing multidisciplinary teams across diverse geographic locations.
