Principal SRE Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop self-service tools for cloud databases, connecting platform engineering and database teams.

• Design, implement, and sustain a dependable, scalable, and agile enterprise hybrid application platform.

• Orchestrate and automate the processes of software packaging, integration, testing, and deployment.

• Collect requirements, design, and establish CI/CD in partnership with technical teams and clients.

• Apply best practices for continuous integration and continuous deployment.

• Configure and automate environments, facilitating infrastructure setup and scaling using Infrastructure as Code.

• Create and enhance monitoring and alerting systems.

• Automate security tasks, including code, package, and vulnerability scanning.

• Develop automated tests, deployment tests, code versioning, and GitHub Actions.

• Define processes for development, testing, release, updates, and support for DevOps operations.

• Construct and enhance continuous integration, continuous development, and continuous deployment pipelines.

• Architect, design, and deploy AWS resources, including provisioning, monitoring, and maintenance.

• Manage and utilize Docker and Kubernetes container platforms.

• Outline DevOps execution strategies for various projects in collaboration with Engineering teams.

• Propel organization-wide automation using Terraform, configuration management, and CI/CD tools like Jenkins.

• Identify security vulnerabilities and incidents, suggest enhancements, and develop automation for risk detection and mitigation.

• Oversee the company’s CI/CD technology stack and implement roadmap initiatives with SME teams and system owners.

• Investigate and recommend technologies, solutions, protocols, and standards for the enterprise CI/CD platform.

• Manage the company’s service-hosting decision framework across on-premises, hybrid, and cloud options.

• Ensure regular full-time attendance and provide 7x24 system support as required.

• Exhibit Mercury’s core values and maintain professional interactions with customers, vendors, superiors, and peers.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technology fields.

• A minimum of 18–20 years of relevant technology experience.

• 8–10 years of experience in extensive infrastructure, DevOps/CICD in large transformational organizations.

• Proficiency with Agile tools such as Jira and Confluence.

• Familiarity with web application development.

• Extensive experience with Docker, Apache Camel, Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, Python, and scripting languages.

• Experience collaborating within Agile development teams.

• Knowledge and expertise in cloud platforms, Linux Operating Systems, Networking, and Databases.

• Extensive experience with DevOps management tools, including repositories, packaging, unit testing, and code/package scanning tools such as Maven, Gradle, Helm, and Sonatype.

• Prior experience with continuous integration/delivery tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and GitLab CI.

• Ability to provide on-demand, 7x24 mission-critical support.

• Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, with a strong capacity for collaboration across all levels of the organization and with vendors and external partners.

• A DevOps Engineer Certificate is preferred.
