Principal Solutions Architect – Enterprise Architecture, Modernization

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut.

📋 Description

• Establish and promote the adoption of enterprise architectural standards, frameworks, and best practices across various business units and initiatives.

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to convert features and requirements into comprehensive architectural solutions, which include business process models and system designs.

• Lead architectural initiatives that support claims and payment processing systems, including the development of an enterprise Claim Cache strategy.

• Design and implement scalable, event-driven architectures utilizing APIs, microservices, and cloud-native technologies.

• Create system impact models and integration strategies across extensive ecosystems (over 50 applications and more than 250 integrations).

• Develop detailed solution architectures that encompass non-functional requirements (scalability, resiliency, failover, observability, and performance).

• Drive modernization initiatives for mainframe systems, facilitating migration to cloud and microservices-based platforms with minimal disruption to business operations.

• Identify, assess, and integrate emerging technologies such as AI/ML, cloud services, and low-code/no-code platforms to expedite solution delivery.

• Utilize AI-assisted tools (e.g., Claude, copilots) and cloud platforms to create proofs of concept, prototypes, and user experience concepts.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (including Business Analysts, Engineering, QA, Infrastructure, and Product) to ensure alignment from design through to execution.

• Assess solution options and develop technology roadmaps that balance legacy systems with modernization objectives.

• Create cost models and ROI-driven recommendations to support strategic decision-making.

• Act as a trusted advisor to leadership by providing insights on enterprise integration strategies and future-state architecture vision.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 15 years of experience in software engineering, architecture, and enterprise delivery.

• More than 8 years of experience as a Solutions Architect, designing large-scale distributed systems.

• Demonstrated experience with event-driven architecture, APIs, and microservices in high-volume transactional settings.

• Strong background in designing solutions across complex integration ecosystems (over 50 applications and more than 250 integrations).

• Proven ability to translate business requirements into architectural solutions, including conducting system impact analyses and business process modeling.

• Experience with enterprise data platforms and integration tools (such as MongoDB, Cosmos DB, SQL Server, DB2, DataStage, IIB, ODM).

• At least 5 years of experience in architecting solutions on cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).

• Proficient in defining and validating non-functional requirements (scalability, resilience, performance, observability).

• Excellent communication skills with the capability to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
