Principal Solutions Architect

📋 Description

• Oversee the comprehensive technical solution development for federal pursuits, from opportunity identification to proposal, award, and delivery transition.

• Interpret agency missions, acquisition requirements, statements of objectives, performance work statements, and evaluation criteria into cohesive architectures and delivery models.

• Create target-state architectures, operational concepts, service models, integration patterns, security boundaries, data flows, and technical roadmaps.

• Design secure solutions in cloud, hybrid, and edge environments utilizing AWS, Azure, Red Hat, OpenShift, Kubernetes, automation, and both commercial and government technologies.

• Integrate application modernization, microservices, APIs, DevSecOps, platform engineering, data architecture, analytics, and AI/ML into mission-centric solutions.

• Ensure designs meet requirements for availability, resiliency, performance, scalability, accessibility, interoperability, observability, data protection, operational continuity, and supportability.

• Implement federal cybersecurity and compliance frameworks including Zero Trust, NIST controls, RMF, FedRAMP, privacy requirements, and agency regulations.

• Collaborate with Business Development and Capture leadership regarding technical fit, customer challenges, competitive positioning, differentiators, maturity, and delivery risks.

• Engage in customer discovery, technical exchanges, industry days, capability briefings, whiteboarding sessions, and partnership meetings.

• Formulate technical win themes, proof points, solution hypotheses, and capability-gap mitigation strategies.

• Maintain technical continuity throughout extensive capture cycles and document customer insights, assumptions, and solution decisions.

• Direct the technical approach, management-technical integration, transition concepts, architectural graphics, solution narratives, and technical documentation for proposals.

• Break down requirements into compliant response outlines, solution components, technical tasks, staffing assumptions, and measurable outcomes.

• Create or validate estimates, labor mappings, level-of-effort assumptions, bills of material, cloud-consumption estimates, and licensing requirements.

• Act as the primary technical reviewer during Blue, Pink, Red, Green, and Gold Team reviews.

• Prepare technical presenters and executives for oral proposals, demonstrations, Q&A sessions, and customer briefings.

• Conduct architecture trade studies, technology assessments, build-versus-buy analyses, feasibility studies, prototypes, demonstrations, and proofs of concept.

• Identify and address risks related to integration, data migration, security authorization, performance, staffing, scheduling, licensing, cloud costs, transition, and operational continuity.

• Engage with agency executives, mission leaders, chief architects, security officials, program managers, contracting stakeholders, technical evaluators, cloud service providers, OEMs, systems integrators, and partners.

• Lead technical due diligence on potential teammates and verify partner capabilities, certifications, products, and personnel.

• Represent Trilogy at technical panels, conferences, partner events, and market development initiatives.

• Develop reusable solution patterns, reference architectures, proposal content, compliance mappings, diagrams, estimation models, and technical proof points.

• Stay informed about federal technology priorities, modernization roadmaps, acquisition trends, competitors, and commercial innovations.

• Mentor proposal contributors, technical subject matter experts, and emerging architects.

• Manage the technical handoff from Capture to Delivery, including architecture decisions, commitments, assumptions, risks, staffing models, partner roles, and customer expectations.

• Assist with startup planning, onboarding key personnel, preparing the environment, developing the initial backlog, and establishing technical governance.

• Remain actively involved during the initial delivery phase to clarify interpretation issues and uphold proposal intent.

• Capture lessons learned post-award and update reusable assets.


⛳️ Requirements

• 10+ years of progressive experience in federal information technology, systems engineering, architecture, technical consulting, or solution development.

• A minimum of 5 years designing solutions for federal clients in enterprise, cloud, application modernization, data, cybersecurity, or mission systems.

• At least 3 years of experience in federal capture, proposal development, or technical solutioning.

• Client-facing experience in capture, solutioning, or delivery within one or more key federal markets, including HHS, DHS, or DOJ.

• Familiarity with various federal mission environments.

• Experience with pre-solicitation shaping, RFIs, proposals, oral presentations, demonstrations, and structured color-team reviews.

• Ability to translate mission and acquisition requirements into architectures, implementation strategies, staffing assumptions, schedules, and technical cost factors.

• Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures, DevSecOps, APIs, microservices, containers, orchestration, infrastructure automation, data platforms, cybersecurity, and enterprise integration.

• Experience applying federal security, privacy, accessibility, and compliance standards.

• Proficient in creating and presenting architecture diagrams, operational concepts, technical roadmaps, trade studies, solution narratives, and executive-level presentations.

• Familiarity with federal contract vehicles, task-order pursuits, IDIQs, BPAs, GSA MAS, small-business set-asides, and best-value evaluation criteria.

• Excellent facilitation, technical writing, executive communication, and stakeholder management skills.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, cybersecurity, data science, or a related technical field; equivalent directly relevant experience may be accepted.

• Capability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.

• Willingness to travel for customer, partner, and proposal-related activities.

• Active Secret, Top Secret, or agency suitability credential is preferred.

• Professional-level architecture or cloud certification is preferred.

• CISSP, CCSP, Security+, or other relevant cybersecurity certifications are preferred.

• Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux, OpenShift, Ansible, Kubernetes, AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, or other federal cloud platforms is preferred.

• Experience in developing solutions for high-availability, 24/7 law enforcement, public health, homeland security, energy, or defense mission systems is preferred.

• Experience in an SBA 8(a), small-business, or growth-stage federal contracting environment is preferred.

• SAFe, Agile, DevSecOps, ITIL, or project/program management credentials and practical delivery experience are valued.
