This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Take ownership and drive technical outcomes across various teams and organizations, delivering significant customer and business impact at scale.
• Establish a long-term technical strategy while collaborating with senior Product and Engineering leaders as the technical authority on crucial company objectives.
• Address the most ambiguous and extensive technical and product challenges, influencing both what the company constructs and the methods used to build it.
• Stay actively involved in software development, managing and executing the most essential, complex, and foundational components of the system where leverage is maximized.
• Influence and synchronize roadmaps across organizations, addressing structural bottlenecks and transforming how Dropbox develops and operates.
• Design and enhance foundational systems (this may include both frontend and backend systems) and platforms that facilitate new product functionalities and operate reliably at the scale of hundreds of millions of users.
• Exemplify outstanding technical judgment and execution rigor, establishing and maintaining high engineering standards across a distributed, virtual environment.
• Promote AI adoption to enhance productivity and develop AI-driven features.
• An advanced degree in Computer Science or a related technical field that involves substantial software development, or equivalent industry experience showcasing deep technical expertise.
• Over 15 years of experience in designing, building, and evolving large-scale software systems with sustained impact across multiple teams or organizations.
• Proven success operating at a Principal level, managing company-critical technical challenges and influencing long-term technical direction.
• Extensive experience in building consumer-facing products at scale, with a profound understanding of user experience, performance, reliability, and operational excellence.
• Comprehensive and deep technical knowledge across multiple domains, including several of frontend, mobile, search, databases, storage systems, concurrency, and distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience implementing modern ML, LLM-based APIs, and agentic frameworks in production systems, with sound judgment regarding quality, cost, and risk.
• Capability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly and persuasively to senior engineering, product, and executive audiences.
