Principal Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design and develop scalable, robust, and high-performance applications based on Node.js.

• Ensure that software solutions align with business objectives, performance metrics, scalability, and reliability standards.

• Lead the architectural design for all components within an investment segment.

• Create designs for systems in the investment area.

• Assist the Product Manager with product planning and performance evaluation for one or more products.

• Comprehend stakeholder requirements and convert them into actionable backlog items.

• Draft technical user epics and stories complete with user acceptance criteria.

• Engage in story grooming sessions.

• Collaborate with architects to ensure that technology decisions are effectively made and executed.

• Recognize opportunities for business process enhancements and automation.

• Mentor and support a team of engineers.

⛳️ Requirements

• 8-10+ years of experience in software engineering, particularly in data-intensive and scalable SaaS applications.

• Advanced expertise in Node.js for backend application development and architecture is essential.

• Java experience is a bonus but not mandatory.

• Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in a technical discipline.

• Proven history of designing and developing data products or software applications.

• Proficiency in Node for backend development.

• Familiarity with frontend scripting languages like React is advantageous.

• Strong knowledge of databases, especially Mongo Atlas, and experience with developing and consuming REST APIs.

• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, and microservices architecture is required.

• Basic understanding of agile and scrum methodologies is essential.

• Practical experience with AWS, Azure, GCP, Redis, Security Domain, Datadog, and Codefresh is beneficial.

• Working knowledge of data ETL processes is preferred.

• Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders across all levels of the organization.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Strong interpersonal skills and active listening capabilities.

• Competence in setting and achieving time-sensitive objectives.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently and adjust to changes while providing structure to operations and go-to-market teams.

• Proficiency with AI-assisted coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Amazon CodeWhisperer.

• Experience with AI-driven code review agents.

• Ability to assess AI-generated code for accuracy, security, and maintainability.

• Familiarity with LLM APIs or agentic workflows.

• Comfort in integrating generative AI tools into everyday engineering tasks.

• Preferred: Experience with GitHub spec-driven development, constitutions and skills/agents MD, agentic workflows and multi-step AI pipelines, prompt engineering and fine-tuning techniques, AI observability and evaluation frameworks, RAG patterns and vector database integrations, leadership or mentoring in AI tooling adoption, and adherence to responsible AI principles.
