This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design, develop, troubleshoot, launch, and maintain web applications and distributed systems in production.
• Primarily focus on back-end systems while also contributing to front-end features as necessary.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to define requirements and deliver high-quality software solutions.
• Write clean, maintainable code and engage in code reviews, testing, and technical discussions to enhance team collaboration.
• Enhance software quality through automated testing, monitoring, and practices aimed at ensuring production reliability.
• Examine user stories and project specifications, clarifying any ambiguities and details for the team.
• Engage in API design and system integrations, including RESTful services and application workflows.
• Decompose work tasks, identify risks, and ensure continuous progress in delivery.
• Provide support and mentorship to fellow engineers through collaboration, pairing, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.
• Operate within an agile framework and contribute to reliable software delivery timelines.
• Utilize modern developer tools, including AI coding agents and associated workflows.
• Partner with security and infrastructure teams to ensure applications are secure, stable, and well-supported.
• Stay updated on relevant tools, practices, and technologies, applying improvements to enhance the product or team.
• Over 10 years of experience in designing, building, and launching web applications in production environments.
• More than 5 years of back-end development experience with .NET and C#.
• At least 3 years of experience in implementing and integrating REST APIs.
• 3+ years of experience with SQL Server or other relational databases.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience using ORM frameworks such as Entity Framework Core.
• 2+ years of front-end development experience with Svelte, React, or Vue, preferably using TypeScript.
• Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies like Scrum or Kanban.
• Formal or informal leadership experience within a software team setting.
• Proven track record of timely product delivery.
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and interdependent deliverables effectively.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Capability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical team members.
• Proactive communication skills in a remote work setting.
• A collaborative, practical, reliable, and low-ego approach.
• Ability to balance speed, quality, and maintainability in deliverables.
• Customer service-oriented with prompt follow-up on customer inquiries.
• Must possess legal authorization to work in the United States without immigration support or sponsorship from Milliman now or in the future.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
• Preferred qualifications include experience with AI-assisted development tools, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring and observability, accessible user interfaces, Azure, webhooks or event-driven integrations, and the insurance sector.
