This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Become a part of the software development team for Arista Networks’ Extensible Operating System (EOS).
• Collaborate with engineers and marketing team members to gather both functional and technical requirements.
• Create functional specifications, design specifications, and test plans.
• Develop software for Arista’s Linux-based EOS network operating system.
• Implement drivers and APIs for managing hardware devices within the Linux environment.
• Produce solutions using C, C++, and Python programming languages.
• Design and conduct automated testing processes.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues identified by automated testing.
• Implement, test, and debug networking infrastructure, which includes AI networking.
• Work alongside Customer Support Engineers to analyze customer installation challenges and deliver software releases or patches.
• Review findings from System Test Engineers and provide necessary fixes.
• Mentor new and junior engineers.
• Review and contribute to team specifications and implementations.
• Establish and update implementation and debugging schedules, reporting them to the project lead.
• Take ownership of projects from definition to deployment, ensuring the quality of deliverables.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering along with 12 years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 10 years of experience, or a Ph.D. with 7 years of experience, or equivalent professional experience.
• Proficiency in C, C++, and Python programming languages.
• Practical experience with open source software.
• Background in writing Linux drivers and APIs for managing hardware or software resources.
• Experience in programming ASICs and other custom hardware.
• Capability to utilize, test, and debug open source software libraries and development tools.
• Understanding of distributed-systems infrastructure functions, including messaging, signaling, databases, and CLI techniques.
• Practical knowledge of software engineering principles.
• Strong skills in problem-solving and software troubleshooting.
• Ability to design and independently implement solutions for smaller problems.
• Capability to collaborate on a small team to resolve medium-sized issues with minimal oversight.
