Principal Security Engineer, Solana

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.

📋 Description

• Establish the technical vision for OpenZeppelin’s Solana practice and act as the SVM technical lead for the entire portfolio.

• Adapt on-chain fully homomorphic encryption primitives for the Solana SVM runtime.

• Create the confidential token standard and SDK patterns.

• Develop developer abstractions for confidential computing on Solana.

• Oversee Solana workstreams from start to finish, including architecture design, implementation, audit preparation, deployment, and post-launch hardening.

• Construct production-grade Solana programs and libraries while prioritizing security.

• Take ownership of design choices related to storage and compute costs, upgradability, governance, and idiomatic Solana practices.

• Independently facilitate client-facing roadmap and design discussions.

• Review Solana work outputs and establish team standards.

• Represent OpenZeppelin in engagements with the Solana Foundation, core teams, and during standards discussions.

• Publish research and contribute to open-source libraries and tools.

• Develop and utilize AI agents, skills, and workflows for security-related tasks.

• Collaborate with blockchain security researchers on cross-team research and protocol-level threat assessments.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience building on Solana in a production environment.

• Proven capability to lead the architecture and delivery of multi-quarter workstreams.

• Extensive knowledge of the Solana Virtual Machine, encompassing the account model, PDAs, CPIs, compute budgeting, rent, account lifecycle, versioned transactions, address lookup tables, program upgradability, and governance.

• Proficient with Anchor and comfortable working directly with the Solana runtime.

• Documented experience in auditing, breaking, or hardening production systems.

• Daily use of Claude Code, Cursor, or similar AI-native development tools.

• Successfully released at least one significant AI-powered tool, agent, or automation pipeline in production utilizing the Anthropic SDK, MCP, custom evaluations, or comparable technologies.

• Strong proficiency in client-facing communication in English, both written and verbal.

• Possess intellectual curiosity, a strong sense of purpose, attention to detail, and the ability to excel in a fully distributed team environment.
