Principal Product Manager, Comet Planning

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Develop and manage a 2–3 year strategic roadmap for Comet Planning.

• Lead the transition from plant-specific manual processes to a fully autonomous, network-wide optimization engine capable of handling extensive scale and complexity.

• Function at the crossroads of Engineering, Program Management, Design, and Physical Operations.

• Foster consensus among senior plant leaders and global fulfillment executives, effectively translating intricate technical constraints into impactful business results.

• Convert complex mathematical constraints (such as labor pools, machine changeovers, batching, and ganging logic) into scalable APIs and user-friendly UI workflows (ScheduleCore).

• Ensure that our digital planning solution is feasible and implementable on the factory floor.

• Make certain that the planning engine accommodates various constraints including changeovers, labor pools, batching, ganging, and shipping SLAs.

• Offer mentorship and guidance to a small team of product managers, ensuring high-quality execution and alignment with strategic goals.

• Design feedback mechanisms to assess how our planning decisions influence critical manufacturing and shipping metrics.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in product management, with a demonstrated history in manufacturing or complex optimization engines.

• A formal degree (BS/MS) in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related engineering discipline is highly valued.

• Comfort in reasoning about intricate systems and optimization algorithms is essential.

• A passion for addressing "messy," real-world challenges where digital logic intersects with physical constraints (labor, machinery, shipping deadlines).

• Strong inclination towards "Build-versus-Buy" decisions and the ability to differentiate between essential short-term features and long-term platform development.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of translating complex technical constraints into clear business value for executive stakeholders and plant partners.
