Principal Product Designer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Perform user research, which includes conducting user interviews and usability testing.

• Create user experiences, visual designs, user flows, and interactions for Great Minds software products.

• Produce high-quality HTML and CSS, along with JavaScript as necessary to showcase dynamic designs.

• Assess design and research alternatives and propose suitable approaches.

• Partner with product managers, software engineers, product marketers, and other stakeholders to pinpoint user challenges and solutions.

• Co-facilitate product design thinking and the development of user-facing solutions.

• Confirm designs through user testing prior to launch.

• Analyze shipped features and recognize opportunities for user experience enhancements using both qualitative and quantitative usage data.

• Assist engineers throughout the development process and aid in overcoming design and technical challenges.

• Mentor teams and champion user experience advocacy.

• Collaborate on the company design system to enhance visual consistency and improve engineering efficiency.

• Propel process enhancements alongside the Product Design Director and other leadership.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in software product design.

• Expertise in user research methodologies, including user interviews and usability testing.

• Proficient in user experience design, encompassing Design Thinking principles.

• Skilled in visual design for web applications.

• Familiarity with Figma and Adobe Creative Suite.

• Competence in HTML and CSS development, with some knowledge of JavaScript.

• Mastery of industry-standard design software, web code editors, and browser developer tools.

• Bachelor’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, or a related field, or an equivalent of 4+ years of industry experience in software product design for external commercial users.

• Submission of a cover letter and resume is mandatory.
