• Act as Temporal’s primary employment attorney throughout the entire employee lifecycle, encompassing hiring, onboarding, performance management, compensation, accommodations, investigations, employee relations, mobility/immigration, and separations, with a strong emphasis on U.S. federal and multi-state regulations.
• Deliver risk-aware, practical advice that empowers the business while ensuring robust compliance.
• Direct legal strategy for essential employment initiatives; collaborate with the People team to create and uphold supporting policies, templates, and playbooks, as well as to establish scalable processes for employee relations, investigations, and separations.
• Support Temporal’s international growth by providing counsel on employment law issues across various jurisdictions, coordinating with local attorneys, and collaborating cross-functionally to establish and operationalize new entities (e.g., UK, Singapore, India, Canada, Germany, and Australia).
• Oversee and enhance EOR relationships globally, including aiding transitions from EOR arrangements to local entities as Temporal’s international presence expands.
• Offer employment-related advice on compensation issues, including assistance with executive compensation initiatives as required.
• Juris Doctor (JD) and active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.
• 10+ years of experience (including significant in-house experience) providing counsel on U.S. and global employment issues across various jurisdictions.
• Proven ability to establish scalable policy and process foundations while acting swiftly and exercising sound judgment.
• History of managing sensitive, complex employee relations matters with discretion and strong stakeholder engagement.
• Clear and concise communicator capable of translating legal risks into practical advice for non-legal stakeholders.
• Familiarity with global privacy regulations as they pertain to employee data.
• Genuine interest in technology and a readiness to adopt AI and other tools to enhance efficiency and improve legal operations.
