Senior Counsel, Product – Marketing

📋 Description

• Serve as the main legal advisor for OpenAI's marketing team.

• Collaborate with marketing, branding, communications, product marketing, growth, creative, performance, and events teams on campaigns across various channels, including digital, print, social media, influencer, email, events, and more.

• Provide guidance on advertising, consumer protection, endorsements, promotions, contests, claims, intellectual property, privacy, and marketing-related regulatory matters, including FTC, state UDAP, CAN-SPAM, TCPA, and EU/UK standards.

• Evaluate and authorize marketing claims, campaign materials, creative concepts, product launch assets, and brand initiatives in a practical, business-focused manner.

• Formulate strategies to address legal challenges innovatively and establish processes for developing adaptable solutions that mitigate risk.

⛳️ Requirements

• Possess over 10 years of experience with a combination of in-house and technology-oriented law firm positions.

• Have a thorough understanding of the law and the ability to tackle issues with a practical and principled perspective.

• Capable of creating systems and mechanisms that operate at scale and simplify processes for your business partners.

• Foster cross-functional relationships and communication styles that resonate with marketing, creative, communications, and product teams to balance risk-taking with responsible development.

• Exhibit a strong sense of ownership, curiosity, and enthusiasm for technology, enjoy facing continual challenges, and demonstrate sound judgment in uncertain situations.

• Hold a JD and possess a license or qualification to practice law in California.
