This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +1 more state.
• Lead the selection of technologies for next-generation fiber optic connectors.
• Investigate new materials and manufacturing technologies to facilitate the development of advanced fiber optic connectors.
• Trial and refine quick-turn design and analysis tools, sharing knowledge and establishing best practices to foster data-driven product development.
• Employ rapid prototyping techniques to generate Proof of Concept (POC) prototypes.
• Thoroughly document POC outcomes for dissemination to internal teams and for presentations to clients.
• Spearhead industry engagement regarding fiber optic connector standards.
• Collaborate with manufacturing NPI teams to craft cost-effective and innovative concepts, ensuring designs are efficient to manufacture while satisfying high-performance market demands.
• Interface with cross-functional team members across signal integrity, manufacturing integration, product management, sales, cutting-edge test laboratories, on-premise model shop, and leadership teams.
• Facilitate knowledge sharing within and among cross-functional teams through digital tools and interpersonal relationships.
• Build relationships with senior leadership, cross-functional team members, and peers through team-building activities and growth opportunities, embodying the One Molex Team ethos.
• Engage with external customers to co-develop next-generation solutions tailored to their needs.
• Provide advanced application and technical support to key strategic customers.
• Master’s degree or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Over 15 years of experience in fiber optic connector design and development, demonstrating proven technical leadership.
• Established track record of leading fiber connector technology roadmaps.
• Strong comprehension of MPO / MMC / Lensed Connectors.
• Experience in defining, executing, and interpreting design validation plans and reports (DVP&R).
• Familiarity with defining and interpreting Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
• Demonstrated application of statistical Tolerance Analyses.
• Design experience with high-volume products produced via a subset of processes including progressive die stamping, injection molding, die casting, insert molding, and automated assembly.
• Proven history of developing innovative solutions.
• Eagerness to learn, embrace challenges, and collaborate in a cross-functional team setting.
