This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey, +1 more state.
• Act as the senior technical authority for eCommerce and portal application engineering projects.
• Lead the engineering strategy and technical implementation for digital platforms aimed at customers and partners.
• Convert architectural guidelines into actionable engineering solutions and development standards.
• Oversee intricate technical design decisions across applications, services, APIs, and integrations.
• Direct the design and development of contemporary eCommerce and portal applications.
• Assist in the modernization of legacy systems to adopt cloud-enabled, API-driven, and service-oriented architectures.
• Develop and oversee the implementation of user account management, product catalogs and search, shopping cart and checkout processes, order placement and history, self-service features, content and document access, and notifications.
• Set and uphold software engineering best practices, coding standards, and secure development principles.
• Conduct code reviews, design reviews, and technical walkthroughs.
• Advocate for automated testing, performance testing, observability, CI/CD, DevSecOps, and infrastructure-as-code methodologies.
• Manage integrations with ERP, CRM, identity and access management, product information management, content management, payment, order management, analytics, and reporting systems.
• Drive standards for API design and event-driven integration patterns.
• Ensure performance, scalability, security, availability, reliability, recoverability, and operational supportability.
• Aid in production readiness, incident response, root cause analysis, monitoring, logging, alerting, and continuous improvement.
• Mentor senior and mid-level engineers and assist in technical hiring, onboarding, and talent development.
• Collaborate with product owners, UX designers, architects, QA teams, DevOps, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and business units.
• Facilitate alignment across multiple scrum teams while communicating technical trade-offs, risks, and recommendations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Generally 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with considerable experience in enterprise application development.
• At least 3 years in a staff, principal, lead, or comparable senior technical position.
• Extensive hands-on experience in building and maintaining large-scale eCommerce, portal, or other customer-facing web applications.
• Profound knowledge of microservices, RESTful APIs, event-driven architecture, distributed systems, and domain-driven design.
• Strong expertise in one or more programming languages such as Java, C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Python.
• Familiarity with front-end frameworks and modern web application architecture.
• Experience with cloud services like Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
• Proficient in CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, source control, and DevSecOps methodologies.
• Solid understanding of security, authentication, authorization, and data protection principles.
