Principal Engineer – Microsoft Fabric

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Conduct audits and standardize current Microsoft Fabric workspaces to ensure compliance with approved architecture, governance standards, security protocols, and naming conventions.

• Create a reference implementation for model domains, encompassing Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers, complete end-to-end data pipelines, semantic models, and reporting functionalities.

• Evaluate all existing Fabric workspaces, formulate migration strategies, categorize migration methodologies, and produce prioritized migration plans.

• Set up and manage OneLake Catalog capabilities, which include metadata, endorsements, sensitivity labels, ownership details, and features for self-service discovery.

• Oversee the performance of the Fabric platform, including capacity utilization, access controls, and compliance with governance while continuously enhancing platform standards.

• Offer technical leadership and support to engineers, technology teams, and business stakeholders regarding best practices and architecture related to Microsoft Fabric.


⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouse, Data Warehouse, Dataflows Gen2, Pipelines, Notebooks, Semantic Models, and Power BI.

• Proven expertise in designing and executing Bronze, Silver, and Gold medallion architectures within Fabric, Databricks, or Synapse environments.

• Advanced skills in OneLake, OneLake Catalog, Microsoft Purview, and contemporary data governance practices, including metadata management, sensitivity labels, and endorsements.

• Strong background in building semantic models, developing Power BI reporting solutions, and delivering scalable data engineering and orchestration frameworks.

• Exceptional communication abilities, with the confidence to present technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences while influencing decisions across the enterprise.
