Principal Engineer, Mechanical – Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Carolina.

📋 Description

• Act as the Mechanical Lead on EPC power projects, responsible for the technical execution and quality of deliverables.

• Oversee mechanical design initiatives and ensure coordination among various disciplines, clients, and vendors.

• Administer project schedules, budgets, and resource allocations; deliver consistent status updates and reports.

• Create RFQ packages and spearhead technical bid evaluations, providing summary recommendations.

• Assess and approve vendor submissions for adherence to project specifications and industry standards.

• Formulate technical scopes of work, document job notes, and produce engineering deliverables.

• Conduct field walkdowns to collect data and assist in design validation processes.

• Generate man-hour estimates for proposals and project planning purposes.

• Engage in and lead meetings with clients, vendors, and internal project teams.

• Communicate technical information and address engineering challenges or system issues.

• Utilize sound engineering judgment to assess, select, and modify standard techniques and methodologies.

• Offer mentorship, technical direction, and training to engineers and project staff.

• Supervise and evaluate the work of engineers and designers as necessary.

• Ensure that engineering documentation complies with relevant standards; sign and seal work if licensed.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

• Over 15 years of experience in power generation or pertinent industrial sectors (such as oil & gas, chemical, or heavy industrial EPC).

• Extensive knowledge of rotating and static equipment, including pumps, heat exchangers, and ASME pressure vessels.

• Familiarity with ASME codes and standards concerning pressure vessels and piping systems.

• Experience in specifying major power plant equipment (such as CTGs, STGs, HRSGs).

• Demonstrated experience in an EPC project execution environment.

• Strong leadership, communication, and coordination capabilities.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive successful project outcomes.

• Adherence to site-specific requirements, including drug/alcohol policies and safety regulations.

• Preferred Qualifications

• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).

• Experience as Mechanical Lead on EPC combined cycle power plant projects.

• Proven experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams.

• In-depth understanding of construction, commissioning, and startup phases.
