Staff Mechanical Engineer, Secret Clearance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.

📋 Description

• Lead the analysis, design, and testing at the system and component levels for intricate fluid-thermal propulsion systems utilized in missile applications during the TMRR phase.

• Implement advanced engineering principles, adhere to industry standards, company guidelines, and customer specifications in the development of propulsion systems.

• Define, strategize, and supervise propulsion testing activities, including the creation of test plans, procedures, and success criteria.

• Provide technical guidance and oversight to propulsion suppliers.

• Create and sustain propulsion performance, fluid/thermal, and structural models.

• Spearhead the development and execution of verification and qualification plans for propulsion systems.

• Oversee the research, analysis, and system-level integration of missile propulsion systems.

• Assist in propulsion flight and ground operations.

• Act as the primary technical liaison and representative for propulsion within the program.

• Recognize propulsion-related risks and opportunities, and formulate and implement mitigation strategies.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering, or a related STEM discipline.

• At least 12 years of pertinent experience.

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.

• Active Secret clearance required.

• Relevant coursework and/or experience in fluid mechanics, compressible flow, and/or thermodynamics pertaining to propulsion systems.

• Familiarity with industry-standard fluid/thermal and/or mechanical analysis software, design standards, and documentation associated with propulsion system or subsystem design.

• Proficiency in MATLAB or comparable engineering tools for propulsion analysis, data reduction, and modeling, with the ability to effectively document and present technical findings.
