Principal Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Define and enhance the target architecture for FuzeRx’s primary B2B and consumer platforms.

• Drive the technical roadmap to modernize legacy systems into scalable, cohesive architectures.

• Lead the design and execution of technically demanding projects, including high-volume API integrations, pharmacy fulfillment logistics, and distributed data consistency.

• Mentor Staff, Senior, and Mid-level engineers.

• Implement design reviews, pairing sessions, and technical knowledge-sharing meetings.

• Establish and uphold standards for coding, testing, CI/CD, and security-by-design.

• Collaborate with Product Management, Engineering Managers, and Pharmacy Operations.

• Architect systems that ensure compliance with HIPAA and SOC2, safeguard patient data privacy, and facilitate secure messaging.

• Optimize system performance, reduce latency, and enhance database efficiency within PostgreSQL and AWS infrastructure.

• Assess tools, frameworks, and AWS services via proof-of-concept evaluations.

• Act as a Tier 1 technical escalation resource for critical architectural failures.

• Report directly to the VP of Engineering.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a similar technical field.

• Over 10 years of progressive, hands-on experience in software engineering and systems design.

• A minimum of 3 years operating in a Staff, Principal, or equivalent senior architectural capacity across multiple teams.

• Extensive experience in building and scaling distributed, high-throughput, highly available B2B SaaS or transactional systems.

• Availability during standard business hours.

• Expertise in modern cloud architectures.

• In-depth, hands-on knowledge of AWS, PostgreSQL, Ruby on Rails, Python, TypeScript, and JavaScript.

• Familiarity with collaboration tools such as Slack, GSuite, and Jira.

• Ability to articulate complex technical trade-offs to non-technical executives and stakeholders.

• Proven capability to design and implement intricate distributed systems.

• Experience in optimizing complex relational database queries.

• Experience in establishing automated deployment pipelines.

• Deep domain expertise in HealthTech, Digital Pharmacy, or highly regulated sectors.

• Advanced understanding of HL7, FHIR, NCPDP, and EHR integrations.

• Experience leading significant architectural paradigm shifts at scale.

• Ability to work at a computer terminal for extended durations and meet the stated physical requirements.
