Principal Database Performance Engineer – Core Engineering, C++

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany, +2 more countries.

📋 Description

• Identify significant opportunities for performance enhancement and scalability within customer or benchmark workloads.

• Design and implement optimized algorithms and data structures for databases, focusing on relational operators, indexes, query processing, memory management, and scheduling.

• Lead the performance roadmap targeting improvements in latency, throughput, memory efficiency, and hardware utilization.

• Contribute to the development of a sophisticated, high-performance database system.

• Execute thorough testing and ensure safe production rollouts.

• Represent ClickHouse in external forums through presentations, blog posts, and community contributions.

• Provide mentorship and support to junior engineers.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in database performance engineering or distributed systems.

• A Master's degree or PhD in databases or a related discipline.

• Proficient in C++ programming.

• Experience in performance-critical software development or systems programming.

• Proven history of managing complex performance enhancements from start to finish.

• Strong grasp of computer science principles, data structures, and algorithms.

• Outstanding communication and leadership capabilities.
