Principal Data Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Create and develop a scalable lakehouse data platform from inception, covering everything from raw data ingestion to downstream consumption layers.

• Establish a comprehensive data lifecycle architecture that supports analytics, machine learning, and business intelligence initiatives.

• Construct production-ready data pipelines, frameworks, and platform services through direct coding efforts and code review processes.

• Oversee the data cleaning, transformation, and entity resolution processes for unstructured legal and historical documents.

• Deploy, manage, and scale cloud infrastructure as code.

• Set engineering best practices, maintain code quality standards, and implement architectural guidelines.

• Guide engineering team members in data engineering methodologies and platform standards.

• Convert business needs into technical solutions for client leadership and stakeholders.

• Suggest, present, and advocate for architectural choices during direct conversations with clients.

• Work collaboratively with AI architecture and product ownership in a streamlined, AI-native delivery team.

• Ensure ongoing platform delivery and support.

⛳️ Requirements

• Significant hands-on experience in designing and constructing enterprise-grade data platforms from the ground up, functioning as both architect and individual contributor.

• Profound knowledge in Databricks and lakehouse architecture design.

• Experience with at least one major cloud platform is essential (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

• Strong proficiency in Infrastructure as Code, utilizing tools like Terraform, OpenTofu, or AWS CDK.

• Solid understanding of data engineering principles, including data modeling, distributed computing, ETL/ELT design patterns, and entity resolution.

• Proven ability to structure data platforms that cater to data science, machine learning, and business intelligence requirements.

• A core background in data engineering and pipeline/platform development, rather than solely in analytics or reporting tools.

• Advanced proficiency in English, both written and spoken, utilized daily for technical and strategic communications with client leadership based in the United States.

• Excellent communication skills, with a proven track record of proposing, presenting, and defending technical solutions directly to client stakeholders.
